Winter Team Work
posted by
Last evening could of been just like any other one. The day was drawing to a close, eyes were beginning to grow heavy. Until there was suddenly a cry or perhaps it was an anouncement. Could it really be? Daniel and Kenan had news, just minutes old to their ears. According to weather forecasters in the Northern Virginia area, satellite cameras were reporting a low pressure cloud formation heading our way. With unbelievably low temperatures, excitement began to buzz…….snow was on the horizon.
And guess what, our stack of firewood in the garage had gone low and needed refilling. Little concern was had for the Wilkes Team rallied for the occasion and Matthew, Kenan, Daniel, Sarah, and I made our way out to into the bitterly cold night. Each one worked together with enthusiasm and diligence insomuch that our job was quickly finished. Daniel & Matthew split almost 2 dozen logs while the rest of us wheelbarrowed the logs up to the garage.
We all dashed back in as soon as possible for a rewarding board game. The snow began to fall around 9pm and continued through much of the night to create a beautiful sight the next morning.
The verse that comes to mind after watching everyone work so well together is Proverbs 25:13, “As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.” Thank you to each hard worker!

That must have been realy cold going out in the night. But work always keps you warm. Snow is such a reminder of Gods wonderfull creation. By the way what board game did you play? Was is setlers?
Sounds exciting! “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.” Proverbs 13:4
Yes, Jonathan it was Setlers. It was a close game all the way to the end then Josh pulled through and won! I can’t believe how fun this game is! We can’t wait to play you all again. Maybe on our next get together?
My favorite picture is the one of you all looking so cold! I’m sure it made the fire all the more cozy! The snow falling on the deck was a beautiful shot and the “Hi!” picture was so funny! I guess I liked them all.
What a great report! I enjoyed the story and the pictures, especially the one of y’all shivering in the cold.
You know what? Today Mr. Gothard gave a talk on the five essential qualities that guarantee one will never lack a job. As you mentioned in your testimony, “enthusiasm and diligence” are two of them! Congratulations! Do you know what the other three are?
