Depends on your Perspective!

What a joy Hannah is to our home! We often call her ‘Happy Hannah’ because she is constantly encouarging us all to look on the bright side of difficult situations. The joy of the Lord is definitly Hannah’s strength and she readily shares that joy with all those she comes in contact with.
Just the other day I was trying to use my time wisely and do mutiple things at one time :o) Helping get the lunch meal ready as well as preparing two big batches of corn bread for a family get together that night at Grandma’s. I put the corn bread in the oven right before lunch and sat down to eat with much satisfaction. What a delightful meal it was! We were enjoying our lunch as a family so much, that unbeknown to us all, the timer had gone off for the corn bread and it continued to bake away in the oven!
Towards the end of the meal Dad turned to me and reminded me to not forget to make the corn bread for dinner at Grandma’s. It was then I remembered with horror that I had let the corn bread bake for over an hour! I ran to the oven pulled out the 2 big pans of corn bread aaannnnndddd they were the blackest looking corn bread I had ever seen! I was, I have to say very dissapointed! It was at that moment, Hannah piped up and said ” Don’t worry Jenny, just let them bake a little longer and they will be perfect brownies! It is really okay Jenny, we like brownies!” Everyone smiled and wished that it truly could happen. We all appreciated Hannah’s response to the situation. She encouarged us all once again to look at things with a new perspective and I know this wont be the last!
With many helpful hands we were able to whip out two more batches of corn bread, clean the kitchen up, and get all the things together that we needed to take and still made it in great timing to Grandma and Grandpa’s home!

Hi Wilkes Team!
So great to visit your blog! You have such a special family and we are blessed to know you.
Looking forward to seeing God continue to work in your lives.
joyfully His,
Becky for the Sagers
Congratulations Hannah! Winston Churchhill said, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” You’re definitely an optimist! It’s great to see the “Wilkesteam” pulling together once again!
O dear! It happens to the best of us
Good idea to look at it from the bright side. Too bad that you couldn’t turn them into brownies
Well can’t wait to hear more about what’s happening around there. Keep rejoicing.
What a testimony! I must admit the beeper often beeps a little too long in our kitchen too.
We also have been focusing on keeping people and relationships a higher priority than our work and projects. God bless you all with HIS perspective! By the way, I noticed Sarah’s braces in the picture. I hope they aren’t hurting too bad! I can identify with you – I just got my braces replaced with a retainer, and my teeth are still sore from having to get used to it. But it’s nice to have the braces off!
Reminds me of the time I put tablespoons instead of teaspoons of salt in the piecrust! If we had been as optimistic as Hannah maybe we could have turned it into play dough! Oh well, live and learn and be optimistic.
You know I have often heard that many excellent discoveries in the field of cooking have come from mistakes. And guess what, that first batch probably wouldn’t of tasted as good anyways as that second batch sure did. There was sure a lot of eager people ready to pitch in and help after the problem was discovered. Thank Jennifer for the account.
