A Rainy Family Day
posted by
One cold, rainy afternoon last week, Daddy and Mommy took Sarah, Adam, Hannah, Markie and I to Frying Pan Park in Reston, VA. It is a historic farm from the early 1900s. ![]()
We all got out of the van while the wind and rain hit against us. Because of the bad weather, we were the only ones there, but this made it extra special. We quickly ran to the animal barn where it was warm and
dry. While there, we saw goats, lambs, piglets and calves which were just 5 to 10 days old. A farmer came in who was the manager there. He fed the animals and cleaned the hoofs of two horses. After awhile they brought in two milking cows which we helped milk. This adventure inspired us for the day we may be able take care of farm animals!

What a fun trip! You know, Kenan, I think you would make a top-notch farmer! I’ll be looking forward to learning how to milk cows from you on your farm one day. I’ve never done it before but I hear it takes strong hands. Would you say that’s true?
I just love the pictures Kenan – excellent photography! Animals are so much fun to watch. Markie looks like a farmer in the making – I wish I could of been there to watch his response to all those pigs
. With your interest in goats, I’m sure you enjoyed taking a look at those Alpine goats. Is this they breed you would like to raise one day? Job 12:7.
Great post Kenan. A farmer can’t let the weather get in his way! After seeing the property so well mowed, dotted with apple trees and populated with people last Monday, it’s easy for me to picture the farm it will someday be.
