Cherry Blossoms
posted by
Every Friday morning the men in our family gather together for a time of accountability. It is a time where we strengthen our relationships with each other and with the Lord. This past Friday, Dad decided to spend our
morning in Washington D.C. so we could take pictures of the cherry blossoms. Every year around this time, thousands of people come to D.C. to see the beautiful trees. It was quite a sight!
Thinking back on that morning as we walked
up and down the sidewalks looking at millions of beautiful blossoms coming from old, gnarly trees, I am reminded of the Chistian walk. Each one of us, who have been grafted into the tree of the
Lord have the ability to produce great beauty by the warming grace of God upon our life. He gives the grace, we blossom and do His will, and many are awed by the beauty of Christ working through simple, sometimes gnarly old twigs. Just think, if there were
hundreds and even millions of people committed to living by God’s grace. There would be a huge impact on the world with blossoms everywhere drawing people to glorify our One and only, Jesus Christ.

Daniel-
What a well written reminder to allow the Lord to live in us so that people only see Him. Thank you.
The pictures are beautiful. Thank you for posting them as well.

Daniel, Your post caused me to go to scripture and find a verse that related to it. Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. As we purpose to follow Christ and give ourselves as a living sacrifice, attractive blossoms of the most incredible fragrance result and others are drawn to Christ and God is glorified. I see that in your life, thank you. Dad
Beautiful, Daniel! My favorite photo is the very last one with the Jefferson Memorial, the sunrise, and the gorgeous blossoms of an over hanging blossoming tree. You captured the beauty of the Spring season in Washington, D.C. with that photo. I appreciate the analogy – may others look at our lives and know God is evident and at work!
Through taking the photos, watching other photographers that morning, and then reviewing our photos, I learned a great deal! We need to do some more photo shoots like that.
Wow those pictures are beautiful.I like the last picture the best of the Jeferson memorial and the pink blossoms.
Stunning!! The Lord leaves me often in wonder over His stunning designs and colors He creates.
What a priviledge it is to live in this beautiful world. He gave it to us to enjoy and to bring honor to His name.
May we be encouraged every time we view God’s creation to remember that just as this beautiful scenery draws us to remember what a wonderful God we serve that our lives are to leave the same impact on others that we meet and interact with. Be disciplers and let the light of Christ shine forth in all we say, think, and do!
Nice post on the cherry blossoms Daniel. Today I shot the cherry blossoms – http://ww2.hynesva.com:81/photos/tims_photos/picture692.aspx From your shots it looks like the weather was a little warmer when you were out there.
You have captured the subtle colors in the sky very nicely. Your angled horizon lines are a little distracting though.
Good analogy – it reminds me of “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.” and “You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
