A Snowonderful Day!
posted by
Earlier this month we had a huge snow storm!! At least for our area.
Totaling 8in.! It was such a surprise. I don’t think there is one in the Wilkes team household that does not like snow.
We did something this snow storm that we have talked about and wanted to do for sometime. Which was, going around and offering our services to our neighborhood by helping them shovel their driveways. We thought what a great way to bless others and have an opportunity to work together as a team. As well as bring in some funds for the family.
The goal was not to make a ton of money but to bless others and get to know our neighbors.
Everyone was so excited!!! We quickly got dressed into our snow gear and headed out, not to play in the snow but to work in it.
Josh and Mark Christopher were the
drivers they dropped us off at different points and helped us by going and knocking on doors to find us more jobs. Matthew, Jenny, Adam, and Hannah were one team, and Daniel, Sarah, and Kenan were the other team.
The people were so blessed! One couple even offered Daniel, Sarah, and Kenan some hot chocolate and told them to come back the next time it snows!
Another young Mom was so grateful for the help. She had just had a baby and need to go to the doctors that day and was not sure how she was going to get out.![]()
An older gentleman was very appreciative for us coming. He told us that he was a chemo patient and could not go out and do it!
Meeting needs and blessing those around you brings such joy! Having an others focus takes work but the blessings that come from it is so fulfilling.
Once your work is done then comes play! So later that evening we all went out for a great time of sledding and ended the day feeling like we accomplished a lot and grew closer to one another in the process! Praise the Lord!!!

What a thoughtful thing to do!!
We only got about 5 inches, but we were so excited about it
Sounds like ’twas a day well spent. We received about 2-3 inches here in Yorktown. Shelley really loved the snow – she kept eating it, burrowing her nose in it, and would chase snowballs. If any snowballs held together she would actually bring them back to us, that is if she decided not to eat them!
I appreciate the ones who initiated the thought, the enthusiasm that was generated, and the eagerness to work all together as a team. It was a joy to work along side energy givers!
What a great morning that was! I really enjoyed working with each one of you. The diligence, joy and enthusiasm was so energizing and encouraging.
What a neat idea! By showing diligence, enthusiasm, and thoroughness, you left a good first impression, not only of yourselves, but of Christ, Whom you represented!
What a wonderful idea! I wonder how many people you inspired who you don’t even know about. It’s great to see you serving Jesus by serving “the least of these My brothren.”
Inspiring!
Yes, inspiring. Thank you for your example of walking in the works you were created in Christ Jesus to do.
How fun! What a great idea!
