‘Extreme’ Family Memories
posted by
It was family day!!! Dad had us all pile into the car bright and early Thursday morning. He said he had a couple exciting family activities he wanted to do with us today.
Excitement and anticipation was building. We were not sure what to expect but anything would be great as long as we could do it together!
First stop was at the Bagel Bakery
where we bought 2 dozen bagels and different spreads. We ate like Kings and Queens.
Second activity was being able to listen to some of the newly published CD’s by Vision Forum on the ‘Reformation 500′ – Very inspiring.
Third we went to the land to gather produce. Tons of Tomato’s, green beans and corn were gathered! While some were harvesting others were mowing down that vivacious grass and checking the honey bees.
The Fourth activity did not work out but no worry’s!! We can come up with something else. Because we can remember that ALL things work together for GOOD!!
So back home we went to one of the most memorable afternoons and evenings!
It all took place in the back yard of the Wilkes Team home!
The highlight of the day was the water obstacle course! And I will let the pictures tell you the rest (click the pictures for more info)!!!
O, the joys of being together!!!
What a fun post! You guys know how to make great family memories.
Ready…Set….Go! Swoooosh down the slipper slide (with a 12″ piece of paper towel attached), fill up your cup of water (oh no – the water guns are now emptying on you!), and break away to the chair where you drop a clothes pin into a jar (try doing that with 4 water guns being sprayed upon you
), now kick a soccer ball, throw a frisbee as many times as it takes until landing in the frisbee golf hole and then the water guns cease fire and you dash up the stairs to the deck – shuck an ear of corn, gobble down a handful of trail mix, and eat a large marshmallow out of a bowl, and yell ‘Done!’ My – what a course.
Thank you Dad for your creativity and for helping us realize once again the joy of simply being together regardless of what we’re doing! I so enjoyed our ‘Extreme’ Family Memory Day!
What a BLAST!! (Literally!
) I love the pictures of Daniel “getting” Matthew (sorry Matthew) – those are hysterical!! Someone was ready to capture memories at just the right time! Btw, I like your hat, Mrs. Wilkes – it’s really cute on you!
What an creative way to make up for a disappointment! I heard a little about it from Kenan but those pictures tell do well in telling the rest! Who was the winner?
WOW! That’s neat. You folks sure know how to have fun!
What wonderful family memories! I just love having days to spend time with my family!
Looks like ya’ll had a great time.
Thankyou Wilkesteam for making everything we do so much fun. I enjoy being with you all and can’t wait for many more times to be together.
That sure was a very fun family day. So many fun memories were made, from going to our land in Culpeper or going thruogh a water obstacle course. It was a wonderful day just being as a family and drawing closer together.
Good question Jonathan – The winners were as follows:
3rd Place: Dad & Mom
2nd Place: Tie between Jennifer & Sarah

Wow! What great pictures! Will one of those family shots be for Christmas?
What wonderful memories! Looks like buckets of fun! Whoever had the camera did a great job getting all those “kodak moments!”
Looks like so much fun!! I’ve been hearing about this post from the girls and finally got around to looking at it.
