The Wilkes Team is committed to living their lives in such a way so that others are drawn to Christ and God is glorified

“..And this we will do, if God permit.” Heb. 6:3

This verse was read the day we were preparing to plant 150 blueberry plants on a quarter of an acre at Honey Brook Farm! Our hope and desire if the Lord wills, is to have a pick your own berry patch in the future!

Planting the first blueberry plant!! HUZZAH!!

The joy, enthusiasm, and energy that everyone had in their labor was contagious!

Rototilled 150 holes and added pine bark to each hole. Lining up the rows!

Planting bushes These two or maybe I should say three... make an incredible team.

The goal was to plant all the berry plants that day. We were a little doubtful as to if that was possible but we committed ourselves and our plans to the Lord and resolved to proceed with diligence. Knowing if God permitted, it would be accomplished!

 Diligent Mark Team work! Working side by side

Go Grace and Sarah! The joy of the Lord is her strength! Thank you Faith!

The Dunn family came over and linked arms with us in this endeavor. What an unexpected blessing their help, fellowship and unending energy was!

God loves to show Himself strong! Especially when we by faith step out to do something that we think is beyond our ability.

Even little Charlotte came out to "help" or maybe get in the way. But she too enjoyed herself and worked hard at eating away at the wheel barrow of weeds. :-)

Charlotte loves attention. Liberty inspecting Faith's work! Good job Faith!

By God’s grace we planted the 150th blueberry plant just as the sun was setting on the Shenandoah mountains.

The stunning sun set that night.

Watering the young plants Doing final touches to the blueberry plants Libery just kind of likes Joshua...:-)

The team of planters! Standing beside the last planted blueberry plant!!!!!

Is this not how God likes to work?

He gives us a challenge and teaches us to walk by faith and not by sight.

He requires diligence and faithfulness from us but tells us to leave the results in His hands.

He reminds us not to focus on the outcome but on listening and heeding the still small voice of the Lord.

So when we see our Savoir face to face we can say with joy, “It was worth it all!”

North Carolina FEW Conference

Trust ye in the Lord for ever for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Isaiah. 26:4

We rejoice over the goodness of the Lord demonstrated at the recent FEW Conference in North Carolina. Through the leading of the Lord, families gathered together for a truly uplifting weekend full of encouragement, exhortation, and wholesome fellowship. We all left the weekend full of joy and with renewed purpose and vision in re-entering the precious corners of the world that God has called us to.
There are still three more to go this year. We would love to have you join us. Feel free to contact with any questions, for additional details, or to register for any one of these conferences:

  • Salem, WV – July 6-7
  • Culpeper, VA – August 10-11
  • Greenfield, NH – September 7-8

When we as families come to recognize our desperate need for our all sufficient Savior and surrender ourselves to His lead, the Lord gives us His grace to live our lives in such a way that others are drawn to Christ and God is glorified. During the weekend of the NC FEW, families were challenged and exhorted to seek God’s best and be prepared to give an answer for the hope that lies within us. There is hope when our eyes are fixed on Christ. There is hope when we follow His ways.
Trust ye in the Lord for ever for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Persevere! Christ promised that in this world there would be trial and tribulation but we can be of good cheer for Christ has won the victory and given us exceeding great and precious promises to keep us from the corruption of this world.
We look forward to the upcoming conferences and hope you are able to come. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with and upon you all.

FEW Team!

It’s Time!

There is an indispensible factor deeply intertwined in 21st century American society. It holds numerous blessings but also unnecessary burdens. God declared it good when created. However, though created to be good it has been tainted and marred by man’s sinful nature. The benefits of this factor are disciplined living, planning for the future, organizing, scheduling, setting deadlines, and getting things done. The marred aspects of this factor are self-focused lifestyles, sacrificing of relationships for routine and goal achievement, and setting of temporal goals for temporal rewards. Do you know what this factor is?

It is called time!

Time is quite incorrigible. Nothing changes it from its designed purpose. No tyrant can sway it. No president can have it vetoed. Time is time and can be no different. With perfect amicability, it operates inside the guidelines of it’s Creator. There is never a lingering, never a retreat, and never a complacent moment. Whether experiencing a peaceful night or amidst a hectic day – time assiduously accomplishes it’s task. The sprinter hopes it will be slower. The weary young traveler wants it faster. The busy person demands more. The sluggard wishes it would stop. Yet time never has and never will bend and flex to the frivolous notions of man. It’s adverse to any manipulation.

Have you ever considered that time is always on time? Never a second too late nor a second too early. It’s responsibilities are simple and understandable. The parameters firmly fixed.  Because of these facts, time is never overwhelmed with too much to do in too little of time. Neither is there a reaction to those not keeping up with its momentum. On the contrary, it just keeps setting the standard for others to follow. Whether ticking on the wall, digitized on your wrist, or keeping in motion with the fiery sun, time does it’s work faithfully and consistently. It’s a dependable factor of life performing it’s role in accordance with the designs of it’s Creator.

You and I would do well to often contemplate this valuable factor called time. Especially as Christians, when we view it  through the framework of faith. Realizing that all occurring in time is subject to Him who is not subject to time. Furthermore, it is God that divinely predestined us before time, establishes us in His grace to live through time, and then builds in us a lasting hope for the end of time; where we will enjoy an heavenly habitation situated in the liberty of timeless eternity.

  “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” (Ec 3:1)

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph 5:16)

“And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth… that there should be time no longer:” (Rev. 10:6)

Except the Lord Build the House…

DSC_7663Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready (Rev. 19:7).

On this day six months ago, the Lord established a marriage union (click here for wedding photos). Two imperfect individuals were joined together unto the glory of God, the fulfillment of His plan, and the raising up of many generations.  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church (Eph. 5:32).

“Sweeter as the {days} go by…” The words of that beloved hymn seem ever fitting to summarize our first six months of married life. Each day has been so precious and abounding in precious opportunities to learn more about one another unto the binding, ever more closely, of our hearts together.

Here is a quick picture update – a brief synopsis of a few highlights from our first six months.

Our very own Valentine's Day Banquet....at home - Thank you sweety! Keeping each other on the straight & narrow way!

In His Perfect Time, He truly makes all things beautiful. Whether awaiting marriage, healing, financial aid, wisdom, direction, etc, we all will consistently have opportunities to wait on the Lord. But it is not as significant what we are waiting for as much as how we wait for it. May we ever be challenged by the words of the Apostle Paul to have patience and longsuffering with joyfulness (Col. 1:9-11).

It is with great joy that we report, the Lord revealed to us another opportunity to await one of the specific things He describes in the Bible as a reward and manifestation of His blessing. (If you need a hint before reading the next sentence, you can read Psalms 127:3 or Psalms 128:4) .

The Lord is blessing Wilkes Team #2 with a baby! Within the womb of my My Precious Pregnant Wife & Iwife, a new life is being fearfully and wonderfully made by our Heavenly Father. We are ecstatic, amazed, and also humbled over the realization of the gift the Lord is giving.

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it… Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. (Ps. 127:1-2)

We look forward to sharing more of this wonderful journey the Lord has us on here and at: www.InHisPerfectTime.com.

Make me a blessing!

One awesome team!

Make me a blessing,
Make me a blessing,
Out of my life
out of my life
May Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O savior, I pray,
I pray Thee, my Savior,
Make me a blessing to someone today.

Out in the highways and byways of life,
many are weary and sad;
are weary and sad
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife
making the sorrowing glad.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love;
Tell of His pow’r to forgive;
His pow’r to forgive.
Others will trust Him if only you prove
true ev’ry moment you live.

Give as ’twas given to you in your need;
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed;
Unto your mission be true.

The guideEarlier this month the Lord gave us an opportunity to go and serve one who has blessed our family in so many ways throughout the years.

Uncle Bill had over 20,000 Shepherded Guides (a Christian phone/contact book) to mail and deliver. He had only two days to complete this task due to having surgery later on that week. When it was brought to our attention regarding this need, with joy, we piled in the car and headed to Maryland to help.

With many hands, a ton of enthusiasm, and joy, the job was completed in record time. The Lord truly oversaw the work of our hands. We were able to deliver and mail all the guides in two days!

Praise the Lord for opportunities to be a blessing!
